The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) was established by the late King Hussein with the mission of helping to conserve the biodiversity of Jordan and to integrate its conservation programs with socio-economic development in the surrounding communities. At the same time, the RSCN’s charge is for broader public support for the protection of the natural environment within Jordan and in neighbouring countries.

Besides employing local villagers as guides, conservators and lodge staff, the RSCN has handicraft projects in Dhana, including organic farming and organic food products, silver and copper jewellery-goat-leather nature boxes and bags and candle-making.
