Best Time to Visit Jordan – Weather by Season, Region & Travel Tips
What’s the Best Time to Visit Jordan?
As your trusted travel consultants at Petra Moon, we often get asked, “What’s the weather like in Jordan?” or “When is the best time to visit Petra or Wadi Rum?” The truth is: Jordan is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience.
Understanding Jordan’s Four Seasons
Spring (Mid-March to May)
This is one of the most popular times to visit. Wildflowers bloom, temperatures are mild, and hiking Petra is both comfortable and stunning. Expect 20–28°C in Petra and Amman.
Summer (June to August)
Jordan can get hot, especially in desert areas like Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, with temps reaching 35–40°C. That said, Aqaba and the Red Sea offer excellent water activities.
Autumn (Mid-September to November)
Our second peak season. The weather is cooler, the crowds thin out, and it’s perfect for visiting Petra, Dana Reserve, and Wadi Mujib.
Winter (December to February)
Expect chilly temps in Amman and Petra (as low as 5°C) and even snow in the north. But the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea stay pleasantly warm—ideal for winter getaways.
