Jordan in a Nutshell--4 days/3 nights

Our new stopover program, offering you the choice of a Tuesday arrival.  Combine with one or more of our terrific 3-night Sensation Amplification options to organize a longer holiday.

(Weekdays noted are applicable except for the special Christmas & New Year tour dates.  If Tuesday isn’t a convenient start date for you, take a look at our  Jordan on the Fly program, with many of the same features but beginning each Monday.)

 

Itinerary:

• Wednesday—Meet/assist at Amman’s Queen Alia airport.  Transfer to the Dead Sea for leisure time, day use facilities and lunch at the lowest point on the Earth’s surface.  Visit Mt. Nebo en route to Madaba for overnight.  [L]
• Thursday—Free morning to explore the mosaics and town of Madaba.  Mid-morning departure to Petra for check-in.  Tonight you'll join the “Petra by Night” candlelight walk for a romantic first glimpse of Petra's Siq and Treasury.  [B]
• Friday—Set of for a full day touring in Petra, including horseback entry, visits to the Treasury, Theater, Colonnaded Street and ad-Deir, Petra's largest carved facade.   In the evening, join the fun at the Petra Kitchen as you learn to cook a traditional local meal.  Overnight Petra.  [BD]
• Saturday-- Morning return to Petra by the "secret road" route.  Visit the High Place of Sacrifice, Wadi Farasa and the Royal Tombs. Afternoon return to Amman for departure.  [B]  Or customize your program by adding on one or more of the "Sensation Amplification" extensions outlined below!

 4 Day/3 Night "Sensation Amplification" options

• Red Sea Amplifier-- Top off your tour with three nights at leisure on the shores of the Red Sea.  Friday afternoon you'll drive to Aqaba to get settled in, and on Monday  you'll return to Amman for departure. 
• Dead Sea Amplifier--Indulge your senses with three nights at a 5* resort hotel on the Dead Sea.  You can add this option either before or after the Jordan in a Nutshell program.
• Damascus Amplifier—As preface to  your program, spend three nights (Friday-Sunday) in Damascus, arguably the world's oldest city and unquestionably one of the most fascinating.  Depart from Jordan to Damascus on Friday afternoon for a tour which includes a full-day guided tour of Damascus including the Omayyad Mosque, National Museum, Straight Street, Ananias Church, the Azem Palace and the Hammadieh Souk.  You'll also try an authentic Turkish Bath, and may choose to sign up for an excursion to Palmyra or Krak des Chevaliers.  On Sunday, you'll visit the ancient city of Bosra before arriving to Jordan (an additional night’s pre-tour accommodation can be arranged), or we can arrange for an extra night in Damascus before you continue to Jordan to begin your tour on Tuesday 
• Jerusalem Amplifier—Before or after your Jordan in a Nutshell, cross the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge to Jerusalem early Saturday for three nights just outside the walls of the Old City.  You'll have a free afternoon (Saturday) to explore the narrow cobbled streets on your own, and then you'll join your guide on Sunday  to visit to Bethlehem and Jerusalem.  Mondays your tour will include Nazareth, Capernaum, the Mount of the Beatitudes and the Sea of Galilee.  Tuesday morning, return to Jordan either to begin your tour at the Dead Sea, or to make your departure connection (mid-day departure or later).
